Rain, neon and the last trains home

A night walk through the city after the crowds have gone.

Rain, neon and the last trains home

After midnight the city belongs to cleaners, cab drivers and people walking home slower than they need to.

The rain helps. It turns every shop sign into two, one above and one reflected below, and it makes the last trains feel like small lit rooms moving through the dark.

The last train

On the last train home there is a particular kind of quiet: tired, kind and a little bit shared.

I have started taking the long way home on purpose.
